Saturday Surprise — The Labors of Fall Cleaning

September 4, 2021

And the end of the month caught me unaware yet AGAIN, so I’ll have my monthly wrap-up post next Saturday ๐Ÿ™‚

We’d debated on heading to Denver to see D1 and the grandbaby, but with Mr. James working 7 days a week and finally getting to take a day off this week, we opted just to get stuff done at home.

So I’ve started tackling the piles of stuff that seem to have quadrupled all over my house over the summer. Straightening up my crafting area will go a long way in alleviating any guilt I might’ve suffered that side of my creative nature has taken precedence in the past year.

This early fall cleaning will also force me to make my office a more conducive working area so I’ll be able to focus on writing once again.

We’re also hoping to get in some outdoor activity — either walking or hiking, preferably both. I’ve promised to bake a pie today since it’s not a million degrees.

What are your plans for this long weekend?

Working seven days a week, ten hour days at the election office in Canada for the upcoming federal election later this month. Also squeezing in some writing whenever I can. Sleeping a little whenever I can, too! Whew!!!

I need to organize my crafting area after a whirl wind summer. Kids are back in school so I will have more time during the day. This weekend was Cub scout popcorn sale and then a couple of Fall Festivals to enjoy.

I officially retired on 9/1 I have been rereading all the Rough Rider Books and am on Unbreak My Heart right now. My goal is to organize my crafting area–I love to scrapbook and make cards (lately I’ve been buying 98% of them). It literally looks like I owned a craft store that went out of business. It would take 1 spark and my house would be gone I have so many boxes of paper. My goal is to make it to the fabric store this weekend and get the material to make 5 no sew blankets and get them in the mail soon. Wish me luck.

My basset hound aka the basshole, Murphy is loving life with me home and hates when I leave my house, I have to sneak out through the garage most days.

This weekend my daughter and I are doing last minute planning for my sonโ€™s surprise 30th birthday party next weekend. My daughter in law is doing what she can to help between work taking care of their baby and making sure it stays a surprise. If my husband feels better tomorrow we will go visit friends at their lake house

I’m trying to finish a baby blanket for a former student and then I’ll organize the office/sewing room. Again. Hopefully I’ll get the mr. to get the fall decor out of the attic so I can see what I have. I’m so ready for cooler weather.

Hubby went up to his family farm to help with cleanup before the BIG move. So I’m a bachelorette this weekend. Same old. Tending to the fruit and veg gardens. Going to stew tomatoes tomorrow and can them. Expect to make 6-8 litres. Made a huge pot of pulled pork tonight, so going to make pulled pork poutine tomorrow, pulled pork sammiches or tacos for the rest of the days while he’s gone. ๐Ÿ™‚
Just started to read your Lori Collins PI series! Been sitting on those for quite a while! I SO LOVE IT!!! Currently on the 2nd book. Lorelei! The details you put into those books is amazing! And every reference to pop culture reminds me of my 30s. I think we are of similar age.
I received an ARC for an author, so hoping to start that this weekend too!
PS. I won one of the prize packs from your birthday bash! I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! You are very generous! Lots of hugs for you and Kim who helped me get my package. Wish I could than you in person! Love and Respect! ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿ’œ

My husband is actually home for most of the weekend, which wasn’t expected at all. His schedule kept getting changed. We spent time with friends this evening. Hopefully a beach walk tomorrow. But otherwise a normal weekend.

Well itโ€™s Fatherโ€™s Day this week end here in Australia. Mine has passed away and we havenโ€™t got anywhere to visit yet as my step mum still has his ashes so they be together when she passes. So my sister and I will probably have a moment together a quiet toast with his favourite tipple, in between packing as we have to move from our rental the owner has decided to sell the property. Been so stressful as sooo many people are going to the same inspections at least 15-20 people going for the houses. So maybe a few extra tipples ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I’m working this weekend, I wish I could have taken off, but we are so short handed that I couldn’t. Couple of people have had surgery and the gm is out of town. I have worked as an Administrative Assistant for 25 years, and now I work in a bowling alley (4 years). In two weeks I am having a garage sale.

This weekend is peach harvest for our tree. There are so many preaches! We decided to make peach moonshine! Made it a couple years ago and it was a big hit. Today we picked up the ingredients and tomorrow we’ll be juicing the ๐Ÿ‘ and mixing it all up.
    Enjoy your Labor Day!

Still busy hauling hay. I just want to get done….
We haul every day. I guess I should be glad that we have hay to haul. I hear it’s rather hard to come by down in the hills and even 50 to 100 miles from here.

Finish getting everything ready to go on vacation. We’re leaving early Tuesday morning. I am SO ready to go. Maybe when we get back I’ll feel like clearing out a bunch of stuff. Then again I like most of my stuff.
