Saturday Surprise — Halloween or my least favorite holiday

October 30, 2021

Hey  all! Sorry about the lack of a post last week. I spent most of the day in bed because I felt like crap. Not Covid, just a cold thing. I’m better but still cranky — haha.

Halloween: love the candy, hate the pressure to dress up and/or decorate. Even when my kiddos were little, I was the “why don’t we just BUY a costume” parent, while Mr. James went above and beyond creating fantastic costumes, starting when our oldest was only 2 years old. This “cool costume” trait was passed on to all 3 of our girls 🙂 and they come up with awesome costumes, even now as adults.

Anywhoo — I did ONE Halloween decoration this year – check it out:

And I bought a BUNCH of Halloween candles that were on megasale, which was stupid because I just got them this week and Halloween is tomorrow so I didn’t get them sent to anyone. I’ll keep them for next year. Interesting fragrances from Goose Creek and the cool thing is the images glow once the candle burns down.

For those of you who don’t follow me on Instagram or Facebook, here’s the joke I posted yesterday 😂

Lastly….this quiz popped up in one of my feeds (and it should’ve been 31 Halloween movies IMO) and I don’t think I’ve EVER checked so few items on one of these quizzes. I’ve only seen 11 out of these 30. How about you?

Have a SAFE HALLOWEEN and eat ALL of the candy 🙂

I really don’t care to dress up in costume anymore. I even declined a party invite last week because I didn’t feel like doing the whole costume thing.
For the movie quiz, I’ve seen 30 of them. Some of them I don’t remember much because it was years ago but some I will never forget.

I’m so NOT a Halloween person- shockingly, my daughter is a total freak about the holiday and our house is all decked out in inflatable cats and grim reapers. Who knew you can get a 20 foot inflatable cat? Yeesh. I’m sure our new neighbors are a bit concerned as each week something new is added.

As for movies- I prefer suspense over scares. Favorite movie of all time – “Wait until Dark”. Lol. Besides White Christmas- this is the only movie I force my family to watch and enjoy- if they want to or not.

Happy Halloween- I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable day!

Don’t feel bad, I’ve only seen four if the movies. Harry Potter and Hocus Pocus because I liked them. Ghostbusters was one my late husband’s favorites and Monsters, Inc with my grandsons when they were younger!

I’m definitely the opposite. I love Halloween, but it is my birthday, so that could be why it’s my favorite holiday. I really enjoy making costumes for my kids too and pre-covid, my husband and I always did a couple’s costume for a Halloween 5k. My favorite was Ms Frizzle (me) and the magic school bus (him). I’ve also seen at least 34 of the movies.

I like to put up a few decorations. I have a wreath for the front door that lights up so that is my main decoration.

I have only seen 11 of those movies. I don’t like horror. Action, romance and romcoms are my favorites.

I don’t like scary movies.. I’ve only seen 3 on this list. 10 if you count all 8 harry Potter movies! 😏

I used to make all of my costumes and spend a lot of time decorating my office at work as well as the whole front of the house. But the last few years, I’ve been a big slacker! No costume. But I did decorate a bit this year.

I don’t get into the Halloween craze-my son was about 4 when we went trick or treating and he went to one house. Said he wasn’t going to beg for candy😂. (he was sick a lot when young, so was first time to go.) Wouldn’t go to any other houses and each year thereafter we would try to get him to go-he’d get into a sleepwear Superman or Spider-Man set (didn’t want a costume per se, but loved the capes on the pj’s! and get in car to meet up with cousins and then tell us, I don’t want to go begging for candy. Let’s just go home. So we’d go to my parents house since we had driven forty minutes, and he’d eat candy there and have fun with my parents. When he was thirteen he wanted to go trick or treating! And he was TALL! I couldn’t believe it. He went with his friends and parent to houses they knew the people, we live on 20 acres in country in a very small community – few neighbors. Anyway, we never have had any kids to give candy to come to our house either🤪. And I’ve only seen two of the movies, and not all the way through.

Hey, I’ve seen all of 11 of them but they don’t list my favorite Halloween movie: Arsenic & Old Lace with Cary Grant. Love that movie; poor fella! The look on his face when he finds the body in the window seat! Yep, watch it every Halloween (and sometimes in between Halloweens!
