Ode to…JUSTIFIED

February 17, 2011

JUSTIFIED with Timothy Olyphant — BEST SHOW ON TV. PERIOD.

Raylan Givens, the lead character in JUSTIFIED, is a US Marshal with a quick trigger finger, a smooth drawl, a big hat, a sly style and a whole lotta issues clogging his life. Here is my ode to him:

~

Oh, how I love thee, Raylan,

You ain’t the type of man who needs savin’,

Your favorite phrase: “He pulled first”

Makes me laugh and swoon as the cops call for a hearse…

🙂

Umm, people, this is why I don’t write poetry. Seriously. But I love love love this show. More than is probably healthy, actually.

Catch it on FX on Wednesday nights, season 2 JUST started — and here’s where I mention this whole series is based on an Elmore Leonard (yes, THAT Elmore Leonard, the absolute master of the written word) short story, “Fire In The Hole.”

Amen, sistah, I am right there with ya! Gimmee Timmy!

I have to say, as soon as you started talking about Raylan, I perked right up! The first season of “Justified” ended in June of last year, and the second didn’t start until this month on February 9th. It was a very lonnng wait! Timothy Olyphant fits the character of Raylan Givens the way that Raylan’s Stetson fits his head! Perfectly! I must say that Timothy looks mighty fine in that hat, and he wears the hat, it doesn’t wear him. “Justified” is just about perfect in every way–an outstanding cast and astounding writing and overall production values. Dark, gritty, and impossible to look away from! Raylan is a dedicated lawman, a deadly crack shot, and his own worst enemy. Bad boys are naughty with a touch of irresistible sweetness. There is something about them, even though you may try to remain proper, that makes you want to show your own naughty self : ) They certainly won’t reproach you for letting down your hair and giving in to temptation! Bad boys are just as delicious and delectable as that last piece of chocolate fudge cake that you devour in the dark on a midnight kitchen raid!

    Gimmee Timmy!

I totally agree!! My family and I have been hooked on this show since day 1, and like you, I cannot get enough of it. The writing is sublime, the actors they chose for the roles could not be better. It’s gritty and sexy and funny and smart. Best show on tv, bar none. If you’re not watching it, get on it! Buy Season 1 out on DVD now. You really don’t know what you’re missing. Oh, and Timothy Olyphant is perfect in the role of Raylan Givens. I liked him in Deadwood but this is the role he was meant to play.

I agree! We have been watching from day 1 also. Look forward to it every week! When the commercial played during the Superbowl I got so excited knowing it was coming back soon!

I am hooked on the Rough Riders cowboys. Its not a healthy obsession because I am a 42 year old married mother of one handsome boy. But I look for McKay’s everywhere now. Magazines, movies, men’s clothing stores… And last night I think I found one. I was watching the movie Leap Year, starring Amy Adams and Matthew Goode and there he was- all Black Irish, blue eyes, goatee. Ahh…

You are so right – this IS the best show. My husband and I have been avid watchers since episode one last year. And it was SUCH a long wait for this season to start. Raylan is an amazing character, and Timothy is perfection in the role. Then add the cast of characters – even the location is its own character – and it is an incredibly enjoyable experience to just sit back and watch.

Can’t wait to see how this season unfolds.
