NO MERCY receives a SHAMUS nomination!

August 24, 2011

Many of you know that I also write contemporary medium-boiled mystery under the name Lori Armstrong. Last week I was thrilled and stunned — like REALLY stunned — to learn that the first book in my Mercy Gunderson mystery series, NO MERCY, was nominated for a Shamus Award by the Private Eye Writers of America, for Best Hardcover Fiction.

Luckily I’ll be attending Bouchercon, the big annual mystery conference, in St. Louis in a few weeks. Although this is my 4th Shamus nomination, I’ve only attended the ceremony once. When SNOW BLIND won the 2009 Shamus Award, I was under heavy deadline and deep in my writing cave. So when my friend Judy called during the ceremony and announced the book had won, I sort of accepted via cell phone. In my sweats. Yeah, I’ll probably have to don more formal attire this time. I’m already shopping for new boots πŸ™‚

This is sort of a wacky, off-topic Western Wednesday post. But it does have a point! In celebration of the Shamus nomination, I’m giving away a signed copy of NO MERCY to some lucky commenter! Check back on Saturday for the winners!

Congratulations on ALL your writing successes. I am continually amazed how you can write two separate genres from opposite ends of the reading spectrum. What kind of boots are you looking for??

Congrats L! I have yet to read this series but No Mercy is on my wish list at Amazon. I have no doubt that it’s a great series (love mysteries with a female heroine) since I can’t get enough of your romance novels. What an honor, you deserve it! Hope you celebrated big πŸ˜‰

That is wonderful news! Nope don’t think sweats will work for the event, but I bet they have some out there that would come close and if not they should! Just add some rhinestones & glitter to them, plus the new boots and I bet nobody would know the difference! Congrats!

Contratulations on a well deserved nomination for the Shamus Award. Although my life experiences are vastly different from Mercy’s, I can easily identify with her. To me, that’s a mark of a well-written character. I just lent my copy of No Mercy to a friend at work, so hopefully you’ll have another fan soon. Thanks for all your hard work! Here’s hoping you win the much deserved award!

Congrats on being nominated and good luck!! I have enjoyed all of your books, that includes both Lorelei and Lori. I love your creativity and can’t wait to see what your mind comes ups with. Can’t wait for the next Mercy book to come out. I love that you write such strong female characters that are so flawed, but in a real way. I’ll be rootin’ for ya!

Congratulations! You deserve the honor. I’ve read mysteries for years and only started reading romances about 18 months ago. You are my favorite romance writer, and I love those McKay boys! Since I’ve started my obsession with romances (and the McKays) I haven’t been reading mysteries. Guess I’ll have to get back to them. I’m sure I’ll love your mysteries as much as your romances.
