I’m not much of a brand name girl when it comes to clothing; I’m much pickier when it comes to household items I regularly use. Here are a few I’d rather fight than switch brands:1. Velveeta
2. Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup/Tomato Soup
3. Heinz Ketchup
4. Mahatma Basmati Rice
5. Hidden Valley Ranch Salad Dressing
6. Downy Fabric Sheets
7. Windex
8. Wyler’s Bouillon
9. Kleenex
10. Veg-all Canned Vegetables
11. Frank’s Original Louisiana Red-Hot Sauce
12. Zesta Crackers
13. Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream

Interesting. It’s a good thing I wasn’t really attached to many American brands before I moved. Here in Mexico there are a few US names I recognize (Kraft and Nestle mainly), but it’s better for the budget to buy local goods.

It’s funny how we get so attached to certain brands!

Hey that sounds like my list! And Kleenex; no good drama is complete without it. LOL.

Heh, I have about half of these in our house. Interesting list.

I agree – with clothes, I don’t want to have a logo, brand, name, nothing visible. But my coke needs to be from Coke and my chocolate soy milk must be 8th Continent Light. Okay, the latter I’ll take whatever is there, but this is my favorite and oddly I didn’t know the name, had to go look in the fridge π Hmmm, am I still loyal to the brand if I don’t know the name?
Good list!

I agree: some things, you just CAN’T stop using the brand-name variety of. Especially Heinz ketchup.
It’s a Pittsburgh thing, I swear…
Happy TT!

I’m not much of a brand name girl either. I usually buy just whatever is cheapest, but one thing that can’t be mimicked is Diet Coke! Have you ever tasted those fake ones? Ewww!
Charlene Teglia said:
Campbell’s, it is a household staple. *g* And Hidden Valley Ranch is my favorite. I’ve tried pretty much every ranch dressing on the market and I always come back to that brand.
Carrie Lofty said:
My dad was super picky about ketchup too. That and real Coke. NO Pepsi, no generics. Maybe my mouth just doesn’t care π
Morgan St. John said:
Yeah, diet coke, oscar mayer wieners…LOL, 8 o’clock coffee…I just love it! so much more than the pricey starbucks. Soup, campbells, definitely. Food club soup SUCKS!
Shelley Munro said:
Hmm, we have Campbells and Heinz down here in NZ. They’re the only ones I recognize. I must have my Watties Tomato Sauce (that would be ketchup to everyone in the US) but I think Heinz might actually own them now.

Good thing there are Japanese brands here where I relocated (Dubai) so I can still stick to my brands — only some of them though.

I have to say, I haven’t heard of some of those…but a lot are on my list too.

Ooo, ooo, add Jiff peanut butter, Cascade dishwasher detergent, Swiss Miss cocoa, Tillamook (medium chedder) cheese, Kraft Maccaroni and Cheese, LOL Funny how we’re brand specific about some things but not others.
I’ve been able to sneak low fat/low sodium versions of Campbell’s soup into recipes under the dh’s radar, too. Yay!
Donica Covey said:
I use most all of those products.

I’m probably more brand conscious for food than clothes too.. but probably most picky about my hair products!
Lorelei James said:
Thanks for the comments, everyone, I’m so glad no one said “You’re a snob, you should just be happy you have enough money to buy food.” I think of that sometimes.
And I only buy Jif peanut butter too!
Breeni Books said:
Mmmmmm…Ben&Jerry’s… Happy TT!
Kaige said:
I’m hyper picky about food brands too, Lorelei. I hate, hate, hate when DH picks something up on the way home and grabs the wrong brand… =) That list looked very familiar.
Amy Ruttan said:
Oh I feel you on the Heinz Ketchup nothing else compares. π
Nicole Austin said:
Mmmm…Ben & Jerry are my most favorite people. π
Happy TT!

Great list. I have to use TIDE and only TIDE! Know where you’re coming from.

Mechele Armstrong aka Lany of Melany Logen said:
I see quite a few that I use too. Our biggest name? Heinz. I should have stock in ketchup. And Shout.
Renee B said:
I have very few name brands I “have” to use-I like JFG Mayo, Cheerios, and HUNTS ketchup, other than that, I opt for the cheap store brand.
btw-just finished “Rode Hard, Put Up Wet” YOOZA–Great book. I hope there are more stories in this series–looking forward to what happens with AJ and Cord????
Lorelei James said:
Hey all, Ben & Jerry’s are some of my favorite friends!
Kaige, when hubby picks up the wrong thing, do you complain? Or smile because *you* didn’t have to go to the store?
Harris – I only use liquid ALL. Cool last name, did you know it’s the first name of my character in LONG HARD RIDE? I wanted to name our daughter Channing, hubby said no, so I got to name a character that.
So Mechele, do you SHOUT it out? couldn’t resist……
Renee~
Hunts Ketchup? Gasp!!!
As far as canned veggies and other stuff, store brand is good, and we’d be living on Ramen noodles if it wasn’t for the low low prices at Walmart. SOOOOOO glad to hear you liked RODE HARD! Yep, there are more stories π heh heh, keep your eyes peeled for more info on COWGIRL UP AND RIDE –

I can’t wait!!! Cowgirl Up and Ride–great title…
