Thursday 13 – What I love about cowboys

To celebrate the release of LONG HARD RIDE, I’m going to keep my contest open until the end of the month. Multiple responses (on any blog) means multiple chances to win! So keep those comments coming!
Here’s my Thursday 13 list of what I love about cowboys:
1) Wrangler jeans. ‘Nuff said.
2) Chaps of all styles, metallic fringed, suede, leather, and the strap pulled tight across their hips.
3) Cowboy hats. I like black felt, but the light-colored finely woven straw ones are sexy too.
4) Big…belt buckles. Especially if they’ve won the shiny buckle rodeoin’.
5) Big…pick up trucks. Love the 350 diesel duelly with “Cowboy Up” stickers in the back window and mud on those big ol’ tires and the hitch for the horse trailer all scratched up.
6) Those shy “aw shucks” smiles.
7) Those “I’m picturin’ you naked” wicked wicked grins.
8) Beat-up shitkickers.
9) The jingle jangle of spurs and the slap of ropes.
10) The way they stand around in groups, young, old, and in between, dusty boots propped on the fence as they talk about horses, cows, the weather and women.
11) Nothing better than two-steppin’ to country music with a cowboy who loves to dance.
12) Their polite tone in polite company. The cussin’, chewin’ and fightin’ when they’re with their buddies.
13) That my husband indulges my love of all things western and wears his hat and boots whenever I ask 🙂

Yeah, love those muscled arms from an honest day’s work.
I live among the cowboys here in South Dakota too. We were in Wyoming last weekend and this guy pulled up in a big rig, wearing a black hat and he smiled at me…I about melted in a puddle right there at the Amoco station 🙂

I just love the rugged-ness of cowboys, and the wild, untamed quality they have to break horses or ride them at break-neck speed.

I’m so glad you guys like the list! I have to be honest, it was hard confining myself to just 13 things.
There’s a rodeo here tomorrow night…trying to talk my hubby into going. I tell him it’s for research. Why doesn’t he believe me?
Ali (and Lori) when one looks at you like that? No matter how old you are? You never ever forget it. Makes my face warm just thinking about it.
