I’ve been in a crap mood this week — my online Microsoft Word subscription didn’t save additions to a document. When it happened once, I thought, okay, maybe I *didn’t* save it and resigned myself to rewriting the 3 pages I’d lost. So I did that…and made sure I saved them EVERY time I walked away from my computer. And guess what…IT HAPPENED AGAIN less than a week later.
SO I went online and discovered other authors are having this problem with this cloud based program. And further found out that it is a software/site issue.
ARGGHHHH.
How inclined do you think I was to work on that story when I’ve lost 6 pages that I’ve had to rewrite? Yeah, exactly that much.
AND to add insult to injury, my damn internet has been spotty all week. Yesterday, I started to write this whiny post and my internet was down AGAIN, so I basically said fuck it, and we left to take a drive in the Hills, to see if we’d missed the aspen leaves turning. We did, but I did manage to take this picture with a bunch of trees higher up still with their leaves, and you’ll notice the treeless white ones below that line. It’s hazy because we’re still getting smoke from various fires.
I LOVE aspen trees so I had to take a pic of these trunks because they’re so unique
Since I was in the yard, picking my pathetic pear crop, I snapped pics of my mums that had a huge explosion of growth — they weren’t bothered by the snow
Also, my succulents are changing color, which is really neat, and only parts of the tops froze in the snow. I’ll definitely be planting these again next year!
My 2 apricot trees haven’t produced fruit — I’ve whined mentioned that before but the leaves are so vivid I had to take a picture — no filter on this.
That was my week — oh, and I forgot to pick a winner and post so last week’s winner is DONNA GRIFFIN! Donna, email me lorelei@loreleijames.com
I AM going to the Post Office tomorrow, gotta mail my nephew’s birthday gift. a wedding gift, prizes I’m way behind on getting out, maybe some jam to my girls….
I’ll get back to writing tomorrow too 🙂

Computer issues suck. I am so sorry you lost your hard work twice. Ugh. Beautiful trees. I hate the cold weather, but love the color changes.

Thanks for sharing pictures of the trees and your garden. I wish we had real fall here to enjoy the leaves turning.
My mom loves succulents.
My parents have a rooftop garden and my mom has so many of them.
She gave me a few but I killed them all 🤦🏻♀️

I’m sorry you’ve had a frustrating week…It seems to be that way once in a while. I understand your anger with tech stuff. I primarily use BN for all my ebook purchases and it’s been pretty much non functioning since Friday. The app won’t work on my phone or tablet and all the books I purchased through the website won’t appear in my Nook Library on my phone or tablet, sigh…I do hope they just took the weekend off for some reason cause I’m gonna be mad if I spent all that money for nothing and have to fight for my books!
This is me giving you a big hug and I’m so glad you took time to find the beauty around you 🙂 <3

I finished Unbreak My Heart this morning then went to download another book to read and lost ALL 1085 titles on my nook app. Yep, been a craptastic day so far.

So sorry you lost your documents! Once in order to correct an issue I was having with my work computer, they told me they’d have to re-install Office. What they failed to tell me was that I’d lose all my documents. This was before clouds. I started saving my documents on network drives at that point.

Your adventures and misadventures make me smile. Thank you for the smiles during the pandemic. Hopefully, the Microsoft cloud will get it together so you can get back to writing in safety.

I freaking HATE all of these Cloud based everything because of things like this happening. I still have a very, very old copy of MS Word loaded on my computer that I use and it still saves to my hard drive. I figure at some point MS will make it unuseable but until then, I’m using it. HUGS!!!

Aspen trees are my favorite in fall. I’m missing this year since we’re not taking our October trip to Tahoe, stupid COVID.

Our work started using Google Suites a year ago. I thought I would die through the transition. We had to get use to sharing everything and working with programs that didn’t work as well as Microsoft. I still start in Excel, before moving to their Sheets program. It’s getting better, but still causes a slow burn sometimes. Good Luck! May the computer/technology gods shine down upon you!

Thank you for the aspen pictures! It’s been decades since I’ve been out to see the aspen change color; they are so beautiful, esp. surrounded by the dark greens! And your apricot tree is also gorgeous.
I hope the software & internet start behaving very soon. Good luck!

You had some beautiful scenery there to help take away the gloom. I had just found out a year ago what an Aspen tree looks like and now I spot them right away. Birch trees are my favorite! Not too far off from Aspen. We have lots here in New England. You should really think about taking a trip out here some year. New England in the fall can be breathtaking…I’m sure nothing like south Dakota but still colorful. I can give you lots of tips on trips in the White Mountains! Stay happy 🤗
