Western Words – after spending a few days down south…know what phrase I’d like to popularize out here in the Wild West? I’m fixin’ to___
I love the versatility of those words as a prefix to an action.
“I’m fixin’ to go to the store.”
“I’m fixin’ to kick your ass.”
“I’m fixin’ to get all up in your face.”
“I’m fixin’ to get you nekkid.”
“I’m fixin’ to get to fixin’ supper.”
“I’m fixin’ to fix fence.”
Okay, maybe not those last two…but still…think it’ll happen if I start using it in everyday conversations?

Most of your characters are always “fixin to get nekkid”. Working on BTC. Loving it!

Down our way it was pronounced “fittin’ to”. I’m fittin’ to buy more of your books.

I moved down south in 1985 and had a devil of a time to get used to ya’ll as compared to up north’s ta da (ex:I’m going ta da store). But I am partial to fixin’ to get nekkid
Now fixin,’ fittin,’ and ya’ll have become second nature. Although saying the word ‘coffee’ will always tell everyone my true roots.

Fixun to or fixunta, one word, is a replacement for ‘getting ready to’ or ‘preparing to’.
So, unfortunately the answer to ‘whatcha fixin for supper?’ is ‘I’m fixunta kick your ass for talking to me that way, getcher own damn food!’ Therefore that is not a correct use for fixun!! HAHA
If you want a more advanced lesson then you can move on to ‘finda’. It’s an abbreviation of ‘fixunta’.
I’m fixunta go to do the store.
I’m finda go to the store.
We Ozark Hillbillies conserve language and consonants whenever possible.
